The Beastie Boys were a hip-hop group from New York City, New York, in the United States. Formed in 1981, the group’s three main members were Michael “Mike D” Diamond, Adam “MCA” Yauch, and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz. They started out as a punk band, and kept elements of that in their music despite switching to hip-hop full-time in the mid 1980’s.
