Curaçao is a small country in Caribbean islands of South America, (although technically it is a constituent of the Netherlands). Along with neighbors Aruba and Bonaire, they are collectively called the ABC Islands. Curaçao’s closest sovereign neighbor is Venezuela, and its capital is Willemstad. A Portuguese-based creole language, papiamentu, is widely spoken in there.
As with most other Caribbean nations, the people of Curaçao celebrate Carnival, but there is an equally important local harvest festival called Seú that is widely celebrated there.
